TO AVOID PAYING CONSTANTLY increasing electric utility bills, consider using-and improving-solar energy systems. That was the message some 50 acknowledged and would-be"geeks"heard late in June at "Geek Pride Day 2004,"hosted by control systems innovator and outspoken industry guru Dick Morley at Morley's legendary workplace, "The Barn," located on the side of a heavily wooded ' southern New Hampshire mountain.
"If s a New Hampshire view of technology," said Morley, perhaps best known for pioneering programmable logic controllers (PLCs), but who still also dabbles in numerous other control-related technologies.
For example, while Geek Pride Day's focus was "Off the [electric] Grid," attendees also saw a working steam-driven automobile capable of going 60 miles per hour, among other Morley gadgets.
