On May 30,n1996, the Society for Human Resource Management broke ground for its new headquarters building. SHRM, formerly known as the American Society for Personnel Administration and founded in 1948, was previously located in Berea, Ohio. Since its inception, the Society has grown from 29 founding members to a membership of more than 72,000 individuals worldwide.
