GRAND PRAIRIE-As part of a huge expansion of its presence in Texas, Tennessee-based trucking company Averitt Express Inc. plans to double the freight it moves through its North Texas freight terminal.
Known primarily as a less-than-truckload, or LTL carrier, Averitt in the next six months will boost the number of employees working out of its $14 million, 40-acre Grand Prairie terminal from 246 to 400 and will more than double its dock doors from 120 to 250.
The company came to North Texas just seven years ago, starting with 10 employees, said Calvin Rackley regional manager for its Dallas service center.
