CLEARWATER - Enterprise Florida Inc. is doing more these days than promising Florida economic trade and development in foreign countries.
They're actually setting up shop.
During a Feb. 11-17 international trade mission to the African continent, the economic development organization conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new regional office in Johannesburg and signed three special Letters of Memorandum to continue to develop and conduct economic trade.
"We concluded a great deal of business in our short time in South Africa," said Bryant Salter, director of the African Trade Expansion Program for Enterprise Florida in Coral Gables.
"We now have a signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the Mpumalanga Investment Initiative, which is like a province economic development agency, with Trade and Investment South Africa, a national investment organization of the The National Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, and a Memorandum of Understanding with Wesgro, the economic development agency for the Western Cape province."
And yet, no money changed hands.
