Toledo has become the 39th city in North America to receive wireless service on the Sprint PCS (Personal Communication Services) network.
Sprint is billing the service as "America's first 100% digital, 100 PCS, single-technology nationwide wireless network." It is scheduled to be fully deployed in late 1998.
"The replacement for cellular is here," said David Graham, area vice president for Sprint PCS. "We're not just providing consumers with a better phone, we're providing them with a better connection that's clearer, more affordable and more secure than conventional cellular services.
