Raj Venkatesan's Trinity Alps Capital is raising outside capital with an eye toward launching in a few months.
Former Standard Pacific Capital executive Raj Venkatesan has begun raising money for a new hedge fund set up to make similar bets on global markets.
After announcing last February the closure of Standard Pacific, which once managed as much as $4.9 billion in 2005, Venkatesan's co-head Doug Dillard said they would open a family office and then discuss next steps.
"It has recently become clear to both of us that sometimes there is a logical conclusion to even a good thing," they wrote in a letter to investors.
