Time is money.
It's an old saying, but Scott Renius is applying it in a new way new, at least, in the Pioneer Valley.
Renius, the former co-owner of Court Square Data Group, launched his Automowheels venture last year. It's a service that, in effect, shops for vehicles according to customers' specifications. Renius works with dealers to locate the desired vehicle at the best price, earning a commission from the customer on each sale.
"If someone wants to buy a new car but doesn't have the time - or doesn't want to spend the time - to go shopping dealer to dealer, they can call me and tell me what they want, and I'll find the vehicle at the best price and make all the arrangements. All they have to do is pick it up," he said.
It's a business model that relies on customers putting a premium on their time, and it's one that has been cultivated in the Midwest for many years, Renius said, but not in Western Mass. - and that unfilled niche posed an intriguing opportunity for someone who has loved and worked with cars all his life.
