SYMANTEC CORP. acquired Toronto-based Delrina Corp. last week as it shed an earlier acquisition--its Time Line project-management business (CRN, Sept. 25).
Symantec sold Time Line Solutions Corp., which had been a wholly owned subsidiary, to its management, which will now implement an employee-ownership plan.
Both moves are intended to focus Symantec on its core competencies, which the company defines as communications, tools and utilities, and systems software, among others. Delrina also gives Symantec a boost on the Internet and in such areas as workflow and mobile computing. Both companies have focused heavily on Microsoft Corp. and Windows 95.
