Worldwide Computer Products News-22 March 2001-Symantec unveils new version of Norton Internet Security software (C)1995-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com California-based Symantec Corp has launched Norton Internet Security 2001 v3.0 and Norton Internet Security 2001 Family Edition v3.0, the latest versions of its integrated security and privacy suites for Internet-connected consumers. Version 3.0 of Norton Internet Security offers several new features designed to detect hacker attacks and privacy intrusions. One of these features intelligently detects common hacker intrusion attempts, such as port scans and Trojan horse access attempts, alerts the user and can then automatically configure the firewall to block all traffic from the attacker for a period of time. Other enhancements include a new technology that proactively protects PC's against script-based viruses - without the need for virus definitions - a redesigned user interface and improved alerting/reporting. In addition the Family Edition version has added a feature that enables parents to limit their childrens' access to objectionable web sites.
