Studio Artist is billed as a ground-breaking "smart" painting, drawing, and video processing tool. In essence, the concept design for this package: to produce a "graphics synthesizer" using metaphors that have traditionally existed up to now primarily in the music and audio synthesis world. For years now, musicians and audio editors have had access to creating and modifying digital "envelopes" and "waveforms" that embody "patches" some of which can represent chains of elaborate processes. Access to that power has given audio pros virtually boundless creative freedom in their roles within the broadcast advertising, feature film, and corporate industrial markets.
In keeping with Synthetik's design philosophy, Studio Artist extends the audio paradigm into graphics with an eccentric though approachable interface and their suite of tools. A short list of these are: unlimited user-editable traditional artist paints; "intelligent-assisted" drawing and painting; resolution-independent raster painting that is vector editable; a complete image-processing effects suite; auto rotoscoping and video effects processing; real-time warping DYNAMIC KALEIDOSCOPE and SYMMETRY effects; unlimited keyframe paint animation; record, edit, and playback of paint action sequences; morphing; and complete support of the Wacom Intuos Graphics Tablet. Now for some actual details.
Science and Paint Synthesis
Studio Artist was integrated with "visual intelligence modules" based on research in the cognitive neuroscience of visual perception. As you might have guessed this is not your average graphics feature. Using it, an artist (or non-artist) can use the program to assist in drawing and painting or have Studio Artist generate painting automatically through its INTELLIGENT-ASSISTANT feature.
