A Sudbury-based mining supplier that has been easing into the global marketplace during the past nine years took a giant leap last month.
On July 1 Drillex International of Canada Inc. took full ownership of Continuous Mining Systems of Sudbury, LHD Equipment Limited of North Bay, JCI Inc. of Denver, Colorado, and CMS Pacific of Perth, Australia, from Inco Ltd.
Drillex also holds majority ownership of Drillex Inc. in Grants, New Mexico, and Drilco Industrial Australia Pty Ltd. of Perth, Australia.
The new group of seven companies will make up separate divisions of Mining Technologies International (MTI) Inc. under the helm of Drillex-owners Robert Lipic, who serves as company president, and Peter Snucins, who serves as company chairman.
