"CANNIBALS IN THE GASOLINE LINE!"
We sat in our car and watched the long double line of cars burn up thousands of gallons of precious gasoline in an effort to (of all things) buy some gasoline.
The most frightening thing about all of this was the almost insane hatred, envy and resentment of the people in the front of the line. Every once in a while someone would come along and see all those cars already in the line and they would be so enraged at the people in the line they would go crazy momentarily and try to bulldoze their way in front of all those people who had been waiting in line for hours. Naturally this only served to aggravate the situation already brewing in the minds of the people in line who had already built up a mountain of resentment for the fellow in front of them.
The sight of the bulldozer triggered something in the minds of a hundred or so people in line and they came out of their cars like...
