WE BELIEVE THERE ARE 10 clear steps for becoming a learning organization.
1. Assess your learning culture. An organization must know both where it is and where it is going. Such a learning assessment identifies the strengths to build on, the barriers to eliminate, and new elements to be developed. Critical to the development of a learning organization at this stage is focusing on the diagnosis--not the cures. When there is wide agreement and clarity about the assessment, the organization is ready to proceed to the next step.
2. Promote the positive. Electrical connections don't work i they are corroded, loose, or not aligned. The same is true for people. To generate and transmit the greatest energy or information, people must feel connected to their associates in a positive manner. When all employees have formed the habit of giving each other positive feedback and the culture is one in which people feel supported by each other and the group as a whole, it's time to take on the next challenge.
3. Make the workplace safe for thinking. New ideas are as fragile as young plants or new babies. They need a nourishing environment before they can stand on their own. The organization must create an environment that encourages, incubates, or creates a "greenhouse" for new ideas. A safe, supportive environment...
