Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM), Irvine, Calif., a provider of silicon solutions enabling broadband communications, has announced that Thomson, one of the world's leading providers of ADSL customer premises equipment (CPE), is shipping a new SpeedTouch(R) ADSL modem, the SpeedTouch 511e, based on Broadcom's family of single- chip ADSL CPE devices. The SpeedTouch 511e is specifically designed for the large and fast growing DSL market in China.
The superior integration and performance in the Broadcom(R) 63xx CPE product family strengthens Thomson's market position in the highly competitive Chinese ADSL market, which is expected to be over 18 million subscribers by the end of 2004, an 85% increase over 2003, according to an October 2003 InStat/MDR carrier service report by senior analyst, Daryl Schoolar.
