"Tigerland" may do more than pump $4 million from the film industry into the local economy. It may show what Northeast Florida has to offer Hollywood.
Filming for "Tigerland," a movie directed by Joel Schumacher, is slated to begin Jan. 31 at Camp Blanding in Clay County and other locations around Jacksonville.
Schumacher, director of "Batman Forever," "A Time to Kill," and "8mm," said he had never heard of Jacksonville "and what it can offer to the industry."
Schumacher said he decided on shooting in North Florida "the minute we walked into Camp Blanding." He chose the site not only for its facilities, but also the personalities he encountered on the former World War II base.
