ARGENTINA WAS the third and final country my Nuffield study took me to and a fascinating cultural contrast to Australia and New Zealand. I witnessed group approaches to technology transfer, such as the CREA movement (Agricultural Experimentation Regional Consortia).
Its 1500 members farm more than 2m ha (4,942,000 acres), with the cost of membership depending on the size of farm. It costs between £60 and £300 a month, equating to the annual cost of one labourer.
