As part of the Toledo Zoo's hear constant efforts to improve itself, a new banquet hall is being built upon the foundations of the former Elephant Trunk Gift Shop. The new half will be open this summer as a full-time, full service banquet facility.
Constructed with an African-theme, the Lodge--which has no official name yet--will feature masks, bright colors and tributes to African culture. The theme will also keep up the Toledo Zoo's decision to remember its history, even as it moves forward by remodeling the facility. The Elephant Trunk Gift Shop was also formerly the Elephant House.
