Within the last few lllf years, medical apps W geared toward health-care professionals have become increasingly prevalent. Problem is, it's often hard for the uninitiated to know which ones are great, and which are just a waste of your already scarce time. Here, we've featured io health-care-focused apps most useful to your practice.
UpToDate
An essential resource, accessible online or on your smartphone, UpToDate is a decision support asset that provides physicians with quick answers to their questions. Featuring over 10,000 clinical topics across 20 medical specialties, 1,500 patient info packages, 27,000 graphics, 140 medical calculators and 5,000 unique drug entries, the app and website are designed to assist clinical decision-making at the bedside.
Ideal for: All doctors and especially physicians working late night call shifts.

Bugs & Drugs
Alberta Health Services and the B.C. Ministry of Health have collaborated with infectious disease physicians to create this comprehensive encyclopedia of infections and drug sensitivities. Originally published as a book, the app provides information on different antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals and antiparasitics, breaking down bug sensitivities by common infections based on patient populations.
Ideal for: Those times when the culture and sensitivity is delayed returning from the lab.
