After negotiating a 10-year contract with the state to keep its headquarters in Covington, SCP Pool Corp., CEO Manual Perez de la Mesa said the 12-year-old company has just begun to tap into its market.
In the United States, there are 69 million households that have yard space and the economic capacity for in-ground and above-ground pools. Eight million households currently have a pool, Perez de la Mesa said. That speaks volumes about the potential.
SCP Pool revenues rose 12.1 percent from $1.16 billion in 2003, the first year company revenues topped $1 billion, to $1.3 billion in 2004. The company added 30 employees in Louisiana to 190, a nearly 13 percent increase.
Analysts say SCP remains a company to watch.
