WORK STARTS ON BIG CATALYST PROJECT
A group including Avista Corp. CEO Scott Morris, Spokane Mayor David Condon, U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, Eastern Washington University President Mary Cullinan, Katerra Inc. President of Construction Mike Rock, and McKinstry Co. CEO Dean Allen led a groundbreaking ceremony for the planned six-story Catalyst Building on the 600 block of east Sherman Avenue, near the south landing of the University District Gateway Bridge. Allen described the planned net-zero energy building as the centerpiece of "$100 million in private capital that will be just the start" of investment and innovation in the neighborhood that will connect the University District and the lower South Hill medical district.
