During the first quarter of 2000, the country's leading conventional mortgage subservicers continued to increase the size of their portfolios and gain market share while at the same time many of the nation's smaller subservicers decreased the size of their portfolios.
At the close of this year's first quarter, Schaumburg , Ill.- based Dovenmuehle Mortgage, which has long been the top conventional mortgage subservicer, led the nation in subservicing volume once again.
At March 31st the company's subservicing volume consisted of an estimated 400,000 loans worth approximately $37.8 billion, according to the NMN/Quarterly Data Report, an affiliate of this publication. Figures were not available for the company's subservicing volume at March 31, 1999, but three months earlier at yearend 1998, the company's subservicing portfolio was valued at $33 billion, meaning that over the 15-month period ended March 31, 2000 Dovenmuehle was able to grow its subservicing portfolio by nearly...
