Navigation Technologies Corp. (NavTech) has announced that TravInfo has installed the latest version of the NavTech Navigable Map Database to improve the provision of real-time traffic information to Bay Area travelers.
TravInfo is the San Francisco Bay Area's Advanced Traveler Information System. TravInfo uses the NavTech San Francisco Bay Area database for location-referencing of traffic incidents, congestion and speeds and as the base map for the TravInfo server.
TravInfo is a public/private partnership that provides up-to-the- minute traffic information and current transit and ride-share information to Bay Area travelers. The map database allows TravInfo to provide more accurate, geo-referenced information through its Landline Data Server.
"Using the NavTech Database as our base map gives us unparalleled detail and accuracy," said Melanie Crotty, TravInfo Project Manager. "Using high quality data is imperative so that accidents and other road situations can be correctly located and communicated to commuters and agency partners."
The NavTech Database contains detailed information about roadways including turn restrictions, primary and secondary street names, address ranges, road signage, and hundreds of thousands of Points of Interest -- information like hotels, hospitals, restaurants, gas stations and shopping centers.
