After-hours barhoppers will soon see a trendy hot spot pop up on Illinois Street's "Restaurant Row."
Downtown's Omni Severin Hotel plans to open Olive's-A Martini Bar this May, adding to its Hot Tuna and 40 West Coffee Caf eateries.
The Olive's concept-developed by Indianapolis-based Omni Regional Managing Director Stephen Rosenstock--is a first for the international hotel chain. If the prototype bar does well locally, it could be picked up by other Omni hotels, Rosenstock said.
"We would look at it for other locations, probably for select gateway cities and sophisticated markets," said John Hopkins, senior vice president of operations for Omni Hotels.
Locally based CSO Interiors has been hired by Omni to design Olive's. The firm was asked to come up with a warm, sophisticated, club-like atmosphere with oversized chairs and couches and large televisions set to CNN Headline News.
"Olive's will be positioned toward upscale clientele similar to our hotel guests," Rosenstock said. "We want it to have a residential, living-room feel."
If Rosenstock's concept is picked up by other Omni hotels, it will not be the first time.
