Bedfordshire County Council, with GBP610 million under management, is tendering for an actuary to replace Watson Wyatt Worldwide. The Bedfordshire fund is one of just over 20 local authority actuarial clients of Watson Wyatt who will have to tender for an actuary if they have not already done so, following Watson Wyatt's decision in April to pull out of the local authority actuarial market. Geoff Reader, strategic advisor to the pension fund in Bedford, expects the new actuary to be hired in October. Watson Wyatt will remain the scheme's consultant, he added.
