Fast-growing University of Phoenix will consolidate operations and add classroom space when it moves its Sacramento learning center to a new building next to its regional headquarters in the Crown Corporate Center in Natomas early next year.
The move to 2860 Gateway Oaks Drive from 1760 Creekside Oaks Drive will increase classroom space to 60,000 square feet, or 40 classrooms, up from 28 classrooms in 42,000 square feet at the current site. The move will begin this month and be completed by Feb. 1.
University of Phoenix offers programs for working professionals who want to finish an undergraduate degree, or get a new one or a master's degree. Its Sacramento regional campus will have eight learning centers and a total of 129 classrooms by mid-2004, up 45 percent from 89 two years ago.
Like other adult universities, Phoenix continues to boom as the average college student gets older and keeps working while going to school.
