The University of Connecticut broke ground recently for the United Technologies Engineering Building, the first major public-private construction project in UConn's history.
The 47,500 square foot building will cost $5.9 million to construct with $4.6 million coming from state bonds. United Technologies Corp. and its employees have pledged $1.5 million toward construction and equipment costs.
The building, to be completed in the fall of 1987, will include a 90-seat classroom, a seminar room, seven computer facilities, a conference room, administrative space, and 14 new research laboratories.
