Valfilm North America, a manufacturer of flexible polyethylene packaging, opened the company's first US facility in Findlay at the site of the former Dow Chemical plant.
Valfilm North America is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Brazilian Valgroup Packaging Solutions, which administrativemanager Sara Geronimi describes as the largest client of Dow Chemicals in Latin America.
"They knew that we were seeking to have operations in the United States because it is a very huge consumer country," said Geronimi. "Dow offered us this opportunity, showed us the plans and everything, so that was the first part of the decision. Then we started to talk with the government, JobsOhio, the counties here in the region, and they provided us with a lot of good incentives and very fast responses; they are very hard-working people. So those two factors triggered us coming to Findlay."
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 55%, eight-year tax credit to Valfilm which requires the company to maintain operations in Findlay for at least 11 years. The Regional Growth Partnership...
