Vanstar Corp. has devised a global fulfillment program that leverages Ingram Micro Inc. and a third-party maintenance organization to round out the reseller's all-out assault on the global services market.
Under the program, the Pleasanton, Calif., services company will deploy a network composed of Vanstar corporate managers and International ComputerLand franchisees to provide services to global accounts.
"We have picked a variety of global partners and have created very involved arrangements and made large commitments to make our global offerings fully integrated," said Vanstar Chairman William Tauscher.
The new global plan is a startling departure from Vanstar's current international strategy, which relies almost exclusively on the reseller's offshore ComputerLand franchisees. Under the new model, selected franchisees will work on service projects in conjunction with overseas Vanstar global project managers.
