New videoconferencing wares are on the rise, given a set of recently defined standards that tie LAN-based applications with video, which, in turn, can be pushed across the wide area.
A number of products unveiled last week at the Telecon trade show in Anaheim, Calif., implement the International Telecommunication Union's H.323 recommendation. H.323 enables LAN-attached PCs to send video and audio to WAN-based videoconferencing systems that use H.320.
