Vietnam: Vietnam Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development - Dong Thap Branch

Last year, the Vietnam Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development - Dong Thap Branch was awarded the Third Class Labour Medal. Presently, over 160,000 households and production units in agriculture are having good credits relations with the branch. In 1998, the branch granted loans to nearly 100,000 households with a total capital of VND500 billion. For food export operation units, the branch agrees to provide loans to four State-owned enterprises with an average amount of VND800 billion to VND1 trillion to collect rice from farmers every year. This project has brought about high economic return, helping stabilise paddy prices, maintain the export market and ensure profits.
