The Moc Bai Bordergate in Ben Cau District, Tay Ninh Province, 70km from HCM City and 180km from Cambodia's capital city of Phnom Penh, is Vietnam's largest international southern frontier gate which was identified under the accord signed between the Vietnamese and Cambodian governments. On February 18, 1998, the Government Office issued an announcement on a scheme to form the Moc Bai Economic Zone (EZ).
According to the plan, the Moc Bai EZ, with a natural area of roughly 21,292ha, including 34,037km frontier roads, and a population of 66,952.
Around 30,000 town residents in 2005 and 50,000 in 2020 will reside on an urban area of about 1,000ha. The EZ's future development trend will target such fields as commerce, services, tourism and export processing.
