The authors state in their introduction that this book is designed to serve as a tour guide to virtual reality (VR), and they compare it to a "guidebook to Bali, a gateway to adventure. It's an apt comparison. Bali, my "home away from home," always seems like an alternate reality.
Bali is a place that stimulates all your senses; a place where there is no word for "artist," because everyone is assumed to be one. It is a place where each day offers a surprising new adventure in which to participate. The same could be said of virtual reality.
