In a trucking industry that leans toward diesel-driven power, GMC makes no apologies for being a voice for gasoline engines
"GM is the only manufacturer to offer gasoline engines in the mediumduty world," says John Stier, total integration engineer, GM big block engines. And the Vortec 7400 line is the latest series of engines to answer that need.
The new engine design being offered in 1999-model trucks has two power options. The 210-hp model replaces the six-litre V8 that went before it, while the 270-hp version replaces its seven-litre V8 cousin with an engine that can power trucks that need to cruise at highway speeds during their daily runs.
