Four months after the merger between WebTrends and NetIQ Corp. [Nasdaq: NTIQ], NetIQ appears to be confirming the commitment to the WebTrends brand that NetIQ and WebTrends executives underlined in March this year, when the companies first announced their merger.
The commitment to the WebTrends product line can be seen in a recent revamping of the web site, the creation of a new logo for WebTrends, and a repackaging of the original web traffic reporting products and services to make them more accessible to new customers. WebTrends is also launching a new product, an edition of its web reporting product that will allow web hosting companies to offer web traffic reports to their clients.
Some of the changes to the WebTrends product line have made the software more attractive to the IT managers and executives who have been the traditional target customers for NetIQ salespeople. In the weeks before shareholders in both companies voted on the merger, both WebTrends and NetIQ executives spoke of the synergies to be gained in combining the two sales teams.
