Disk-drive maker Western Digital Corp. has stubbed its toe in the middle of a growing price skirmish with its competition, and has told financial observers that its outlook for the present fiscal quarter and the months ahead will not be as rosy as first thought.
Two major Wall Street brokerage houses consequently dropped their earnings expectations for the Irvine, Calif.-based company and said factors other than price erosion-factors specific to Western Digital-could also hurt the company's performance.
