ASSOCIATION REPORT: AHAM
With cost pressures and economic uncertainty a way of life, there is no better time than now to let your industry association help you stay focused on your core concerns. If you are a home appliance manufacturer or a service provider or supplier to appliance manufacturers, AHAM could be an important component in your business strategy. The value of AHAM can be summed up in three words: Access, Information and Advocacy.
The first quarter of this year, like most, was highlighted by the several trade shows important to our industry. Maybe this year you attended or exhibited at one or more: The Housewares Show, ASHRAE, the Home Builders, HomeTech and Kitchen and Bath. These shows are always great opportunities to see new product innovations, make new contacts and catch up with existing ones. AHAM staff who have the opportunity to attend these events always try to balance the desire to talk to current and prospective members with their needs to focus on customers.
AHAM has had booth space in some shows in the past and we are considering doing so again. The purpose was, and would be, to promote membership. For those of you we missed in Chicago, Atlanta, Atlantic City and Berlin, this is a good time to consider ARAM membership. Why AHAM and why now? Remember, the fundamental purpose of a trade association is to perform those industry specific tasks that individual companies cannot do, or cannot do as well or cost effectively unilaterally, AHAM has the experience and critical mass to mobilize the appliance industry.
