TELECOMWORLDWIRE-17 April 2001-Winchester Systems launches new enterprise storage system (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http:// www.m2.com The US-based storage systems developer Winchester Systems has introduced its new FlashDisk OpenRAID enterprise storage product. Designed for storage hungry applications such as data warehousing, data acquisition systems and decision support systems as well as for major e-commerce, financial, manufacturing and database applications, FlashDisk OpenRAID can hold eight half- height disk drives of 181Gb each to store up to 1.45Tb in a single enclosure. Other features include the delivery of up to 13,000 I/O operations per second and up to 121Mb/s sustained data throughput using two available host posts and the attachment via industry- standard fibre channel and SCSI interfaces to host servers. FlashDisk Open RAID models are available in rackmount and pedestal configurations. A 1.45Tb unit with eight disk drives of 181Gb each is priced at USD53,943.
