Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications unveiled the T226 mobile phone for the American market.
The T226 is a color screen dual-band 850/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS handset that combines imaging, entertainment and Internet connectivity. Sony Ericsson says the phone was designed with picture messaging, ringtones and gaming in mind.
With the CommuniCamTM MCA-25 snap-on camera accessory, the T226 enables users to capture, view and send photos, either to the recipient's computer or to a compatible mobile phone. Picture Caller ID is a standard feature of the T226; users see not only the phone number, but also a photo of their callers. Users also can record their own voice and use it as a ringtone. For gaming, a five-way joystick is designed to enhance play.
The phone can double as a speakerphone when connected to Sony Ericsson's Desk Speaker Stand CSS-20.
The Sony Ericsson T226 averages 7.5 hours of talk time and 275 hours standby time. The T226 will be commercially available in the third quarter in the Americas. The CommuniCamTM MCA-25 camera and the Desk Speaker Stand CSS-20 accessories are sold separately.

Linear Technology announced the LTC1844, a very low dropout micropower linear regulator that can deliver up to 150mA of continuous output current from a ThinSOT package.
The company says the LTC1844 is the first VLDO that can operate from input voltage as low as 1.6 V, making it ideal for single cell Li-Ion, multi-cell alkaline or NiMH applications. It is available with an adjustable output or with fixed outputs ranging from 1.5V to 3.3V. It maintains an output voltage accuracy of +1.75 percent over the full temperature, voltage and current ranges.
Internal protection circuitry includes reverse-battery protection, current limiting, thermal limiting and reverse-current protection. The LTC1844 is available with an adjustable output or with fixed 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.8V, 3.3V outputs. All versions are available from stock in a five-lead ThinSOT package.
