Gary Johnson has resigned as president of Wolco Business Systems Inc. so that he could buy two of its branches and strike out on his own.
Johnson purchased the Sacramento and Fairfield branches of the Fresnobased office machine dealer on May 4 for an undisclosed amount. Industry sources call it a multimillion-dollar deal.
For now, the Sacramento and Fairfield branches keep the Wolco name. The 35 employees stayed on, and Johnson plans few changes.
As of April, Wolco was Greater Sacramento's sixth-largest office machine dealer, ranked by number of employees. The company sells and services Toshiba copiers, fax machines, printers and digital equipment.
Clients include Maloof Sports & Entertainment, Lyon & Associates Inc., the University of California Davis, Capital Christian Center, Granite Construction Co. and The Golden 1 Credit Union.
Johnson's new company is Zoom Imaging Solutions Inc., doing business as Wolco Business Systems. Within two or three years Johnson aims to do business as Zoom.
His goal is to expand gross revenue by 10 percent annually. His longterm plans are to grow internally and by establishing branches in the Bay Area.
