Elizabeth "Libby" Guinan founded the American Business and Fashion Institute in Charlotte in 1973 and sold it in 1999 when it became Art Institute of Charlotte. Staying on as president, Guinan moved ,the school to a new location, doubled enrollment, added more than 30 faculty and staff, gained degree-granting status by the state and just started a culinary program. The school expects a 45% jump in enrollment this fall.
Elizabeth "Libby" Guinan took a lifetime love of art, travel and teaching to build the Art Institute of Charlotte into a school for creative and applied arts.
