Mar Dee Baker has put in the 70-hour weeks and weekends at the office. She's brought her work home and watched her personal time slip away under an avalanche of never-finished business. Saying no to all that, and yes to a career helping others regain some of their personal lives, is the best career move she's ever made.
Baker joined the Charlotte-based start-up company, Resources Connection, as managing director in May 1999.
"I've gone through periods of my career where you're really putting everything into your career," she notes. "And having come out of the other end of that and being proud of what I accomplished, I also realized that that wasn't the best for either myself nor the people I was working with. You reach a point of diminishing returns."
With that in mind, Baker joined Resources...
