Alan Greenspan isn't making things easy for Millie C. Korn.
As vice president of Prestige Abstract Corp., Korn regularly gears up for statements from the chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank, knowing that what he says and what happens in the economy have direct and almost immediate repercussions for her company and the entire title insurance industry.
"My biggest challenge is outside factors that contribute to how our business is run," said Korn, one of the Philadelphia Business Journal's 25 Women of Distinction this year. "So much depends on what's going on in the economy. Interest rates go up, business goes down; rates go down, we're swamped. Every month, we all talk about what Greenspan is going to say and whether we're going to be enormously busy or really slow."
Despite the ups and downs, Korn and her partner, Daniel L. DiBona, with whom she founded Prestige in 1988, have seen an increase in revenue of more than 25 percent every year.
