Woolrich Inc., which prides itself on being the nation's original outdoor clothing company, is expanding into furniture.
Soon, the famous brand-name of the 173-year-old privatelyowned company based in the Clinton County town that bears its name will appear on furniture.
The first Woolrich furniture is scheduled to be introduced this month at an industry show in High Point, N.C.
It will be available in stores in 2004, Rick Insley, senior vice president of retail and licensing, says.
Woolrich has entered into an agreement with Lexington Home Brands in Lexington, N.C., to manufacture the furniture. There will be both wood and upholstered pieces, Insley says.
Lexington will design the furniture but Woolrich will have the final say as to whether it meets the requirements of the outdoor lifestyle for which the Woolrich brand stands, says Roswell...
