Construction is scheduled to start this month on a $15 million Christian Academy of Indiana school off Grant Line Road in New Albany, according to Matt Chalfant, project chairman.
The project will have three buildings with a combined total of 183,000 square feet, he said.
Chalfant is a board member of Christian Academy of Louisville, the umbrella organization that oversees operations and facilities at six Louisville area Christian school campuses, which includes two in Southern Indiana.
Christian Academy of Indiana consists of campuses at Graceland Baptist Church and Northside Christian Church.
The Northside school has been part of the Christian Academy of Louisville system for about eight years, while Graceland Baptist's school joined the system last July.
With Graceland Baptist's entrance, Christian Academy of Indiana was formed, and school system officials announced plans last summer for a new facility combining both of the New Albany schools at one site, Chalfant said.
The new Christian Academy of Indiana will serve students in preschool through grade 12. It will provide Christ-centered education, as is the case at the other Christian Academy of Louisville campuses, said Mike Batuello, director of development for the school system.
Together the Northside and Graceland campuses have about 725 students and 53 faculty and staff members, according to Chalfant.
