CURRENT DEEPWATER ROVS Previous ultra-deep water ROVs like Oceaneering's Magellan vehicles and I.S.E.'s Hysub 5000, were designed for deep water operations, but whose total onboard hydraulic power is less than 30 hp. Minimum power requirements allow for a smaller umbilical and thus less drag (and power required) on the system as a whole. These vehicles rely on accurate ship positioning to compensate for the lack of thruster power at the vehicle.
