New York Interpublic beats WPP in GlaxoSmithKline pitch
The Interpublic Group has picked up a number of GlaxoSmithKline brands after a two-way pitch against WPP.
The products, which stretch across pharmaceutical categories such as diabetes, asthma and flu medication, were previously shared between the WPP Group agencies Thomas Ferguson Associates and Grey Healthcare, which lost the $100 million Advair account.
The business will now move into three IPG shops: FCB Healthcare. Regan Campbell Ward McCann and Torre Lazure McCann.
New York MindShare retains global Kodak media account
WPP's MindShare has retained the worldwide media planning and buying account for Kodak following a media consolidation review launched in August.
In addition, WPP's Neo@Ogilvy was awarded the digital business, dispatching the incumbent. Carat Fusion.
The review followed concerns over dwindling profits after digital technology caused a dramatic decline in film use, which was formally the core of Kodak's business. Kodak's domestic media spend fell from $205 million in 2002 to $90 million in 2005, according to TNS.
The creative business, which is handled by Ogilvy & Mather, was not included in the review.
Amsterdam PCM Uitgevers and Boekhoorn in split
PCM Uitgevers, the Dutch publishing house, has pulled out of a joint venture with Marcel Boekhoorn to launch a free quality newspaper in The Netherlands.
Boekhoorn, a wealthy entrepreneur, was set to take a 51 per cent stake in the venture that would see him producing the paper and PCM printing it.
The idea was criticised by some PCM shareholders, who said that the venture would eat into PCM's paid-for nationals, which include NRC Handelseblad and De Volkskrant,...
