At press time, Xerox Engineering Systems (XES), (Stamford, Connecticut), was gearing up to launch May 3rd a ColorgrafX X2 solution designed to meet the needs of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and computeraided design (CAD) applications. In the meantime, XES notes that their ColorgrafX X2 piezoelectric inkjet printer delivers maximum-quality color prints at faster production speeds than any other inkjet printer. The 54-inch, six-color inkjet printer prints at both 360 dpi and 720 dpi resolution and offers three different print categories. In its "productivity" mode, the ColorgrafX X2 prints at 431 square feet per hour; in "quality" mode it prints at 260 square feet per hour; and in the "high quality" mode it prints at 130 square feet per hour.
