XYLAN LAST WEEK boosted the capacity and port density of its OmniSwitch chassis and outlined strategies for Gigabit Ethernet and Layer 3 switching.
The company unveiled a 32-port Ethernet switching module and a 12-port auto-sensing 10/l00Mbps module, both based on a 4Gbps ASIC developed by Xylan.
Xylan's plans for pre-standard Gigabit Ethernet products include a one-port uplink module coming by October and a four-port switching module due by year's end. A version of the uplink will also be available for the PizzaSwitch workgroup product.
