The York area is getting a new upscale hotel where guests are expected to get 'teed off.'
The Inn at Heritage Hills, scheduled to open January 1997, will be one of the York area's few luxury hotels located within putting distance of a golf course. According to hotel developers, guests will be able to walk out of the lobby and onto the first tee at Heritage Hills golf course.
"Technically, it's our only resort," said Anne Druck, executive director of York County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "It's the only one with the hotel, golf and restaurant all in one."
The Inn, a $5.5 million project, is being built adjacent to Heritage Hills Golf Resort, located on Mount Rose Avenue in Springettsbury Township.
Developers Matthew and Rhoda DeRose, spouses and partners in the Inn at Heritage Hills Associates, said this is their first venture into hostelry. However, they are confident that the area is ready for a new, full-service resort.
"The land was available at Heritage Hills. We did a study to see if a hotel was needed, and determined that it was," said Rhoda DeRose.
