PUTRAJAYA, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The Honourable Dato' Sri Anifah Hj Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Her Excellency Retno L.P. Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia co-chaired the 14th Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) between Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 10 October 2015. The 14th Meeting of the JCBC was preceded by the Senior Officials's Meeting on 9 October 2015. The two Foreign Ministers expressed their satisfaction at the excellent state of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. They took stock and reviewed the progress made on the implementation of bilateral issues of mutual concern. The Ministers remained committed to resolve the outstanding maritime boundaries delimitation and land boundary demarcation and acknowledged the progress made by the Technical Committee on the delimitation of maritime boundaries and the Joint Land Boundary Committee. The Ministers also welcomed the appointment of the Special Envoys for the delimitation on the maritime boundaries in Sulawesi Sea, as agreed by the two Leaders in February 2015. Malaysia's Special Envoy, Tan Sri Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman and Indonesian Special Envoy, Ambassador Eddy Pratomo met for informal consultations in August 2015 in Jakarta. Malaysia expressed its deep concern on the recurring haze situation in the region and sought Indonesia's assurances to address the land and forest fires effectively. Malaysia stands ready to provide technical support in the form of manpower and equipment. Malaysia has despatched a Bombardier amphibious aircraft to assist in water bombing operations in South Sumatera. We welcomed Indonesia's on-going efforts to address land and forest fires in Sumatera and Kalimantan including bringing the perpetrators to justice. Both Ministers discussed issues related to the Indonesian workers in the formal sector and domestic workers and welcomed the convening of the Working Group Meeting on Recruitment of Indonesian Workers and the 11th of the Joint Working Group Meeting on Recruitment and Placement of Indonesian Domestic Workers to be held back-to-back in Jakarta on 15-16 October 2015. The Meetings will discuss Malaysia's proposal for a Government-to-Government Plus mechanism. The Ministers took note of the trade and investment cooperation between both countries which include the cooperation on infrastructure developments in Indonesia, palm oil and tourism. Both sides also explored new areas of cooperation that would further enhance and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia such as the conservation of Sumatran rhinocerous. Both Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues such as ASEAN, South China Sea, Indian Ocean Rim Association and irregular migration into Southeast Asia.
